Review & Award Process
Application and Award Process
The Foundation's Trustee, The Fairfield National Bank, Fairfield, IL solicits applications from individual students each January. The Advisory Board for the foundation reviews applications and selects one each year for funding. Checks from the Foundation are made out to the student and are sent to the student's college as follows.
First Payment — 75%
The first check for 75% of the award will be sent at least one month before the study begins.
Final Payment — 25%
The second check for the remaining 25% will be sent upon receipt and approval of the final report from the student.
In each case the college forwards the check directly to the student. The grants are known as the Spirit of Life Charitable Foundation Grants.
Application Review Criteria
The See-Learn-Share framework will be the primary basis for reviewing applications. The detailed criteria below will help the selection committee apply that framework consistently while also considering the strength, feasibility, and potential value of each proposal. Reviewers will consider:
- Importance and clarity of the unmet U.S. health need
- Strength of the evidence supporting the international innovation
- Quality and feasibility of the See-Learn-Share plan
- Appropriateness of the methods and project partnerships
- Potential value of the findings for a U.S. audience
- Quality of the required final report and proposed dissemination plan
- Reasonableness and necessity of the budget
- Overall feasibility and likelihood that the project can be completed as proposed
Applications will be reviewed by the Advisory Board of the Frontier Community College Foundation..
Administration of Awards
The activities of the Spirit of Life Foundation and the awards it makes are supported by the SPIRIT OF LIFE CHARITABLE FOUNDATION TRUST, administered by the Trust department of the Fairfield National Bank, Fairfield, Illinois, 62837. The trustee makes awards to students at American colleges and universities upon the recommendation of the Foundation's Advisory Board
